In the new display area in 2016, the most attractive one is OLED, and the other is laser display, which corresponds to small and medium size smart phones and large-size TV markets. In recent years, in addition to the gradual warming up in the TV field, laser display has been widely used in many fields such as education, engineering, transportation, and shopping malls as the next-generation display technology. China began to lay out its laser display very early. With the maturity of upstream devices, materials, and supporting industrial chains, the domestic laser display industry has ushered in a new round of outbreaks!
Laser display principle and route
Although flat panel display technology has long since entered our lives, most people are still unfamiliar with laser display. In principle, laser display technology mainly relies on red, green and blue (RGB) three-primary lasers to render colors. From the perspective of the composition of the laser display system, there are mainly two types of projection and scanning.
Among them, the scanning laser display system is mainly composed of a laser transmitter, a modulator, a deflector and a screen combination. After the system receives the signal, it separates into three-color (RGB) image signals and emits light of corresponding intensity after processing the three-color semiconductor laser diodes. After modulated output and signal synchronization control, the light beam passing through the light deflector is scanned onto the screen to form an image. However, the biggest problem with this method is its high cost. The manufacturing process of green lasers is difficult, and at the same time it requires a large cooling system, making it difficult to enter home. Although the Japanese companies represented by Mitsubishi and Sony have launched relevant products on this technical route, the fundamental constraints have not yet been resolved. Therefore, the pioneers have become the martyrs, and they finally leave.

Laser TV display principle

Another type of projection technology route, the system structure is relatively simple, mainly composed of three primary color laser light source, optical engine and screen. At present, the mainstream technology is to use monochromatic blue light to stimulate the conversion of the phosphor to image in an ultra-short-focus lens projection manner, which is called excitation phosphor scheme. Its greatest advantage is that it can effectively reduce costs, effectively solve the problem of heat dissipation, and is smaller in size, and the industrial chain is mature to facilitate large-scale production and popularization and application. At present, domestic laser TV manufacturers mainly adopt this implementation scheme, and domestic companies represented by the United States and the United States have realized the autonomy of optical machines, and through the upstream and downstream industrial chain layout, the laser display machine has achieved mass production, making China's laser display industry has become an international leader!
Laser Display Technology Development Process
Compared with other display technologies, laser display mainly has the advantages of long lamp life, low efficiency attenuation, low maintenance cost, large color gamut space, high brightness, low environmental impact, easy to realize large-screen display, and energy conservation and environmental protection. Since laser display was first proposed in the 1960s, a large number of scholars began to conduct related research. In the early 21st century, research on laser display technology achieved a turning point in progress, and a large number of engineering prototypes were gradually introduced. Since 2005, laser display technology has also entered the early stage of industrialization, and global representative companies have made relevant attempts.
Among the early typical enterprises are Mitsubishi Corporation of Japan, Samsung Electronics of South Korea and Barco of Belgium. As early as 2009, Mitsubishi Corporation of Japan introduced a 65-inch laser display TV, but after a few “jumps”, it eventually failed to cause a good market response. In 2012, Barco successfully developed a laser digital cinema projector that was mainly used to replace traditional light projectors. Recently, Barco also introduced the world's first 4K phosphor projector.
In recent years, China has attached great importance to the research and development of laser display technology. With the support of the “863” Program and the Innovation Project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, five institutes of the Chinese Academy of Sciences jointly tackled the problem. In September 2003, it first achieved the full-color laser projection display in China, 2006. In January, a 140-inch laser full-color display prototype was developed and approved by relevant departments. The conclusion of the assessment was that the overall situation was in sync with the international, and the color gamut coverage was the international leader. The 2016 national key R&D projects were 18th, 19th, and 20th. For the three-color laser display technology issues. At present, our country is at the same level as the developed countries in terms of laser display technology, individual indicators such as color gamut are even better than those of developed countries, and key technologies such as supporting key components for projection laser display have been overcome. With the support of a series of national policies, the scale of our projection laser display industry has been ahead of the international level.

Among them, the most representative one is a laser television product. Currently, it has a large-scale production capacity in China, which has a leading position in the world. As early as 2014, Merlot was the first to introduce a 100-inch laser television with an LPD light source and an ultra-short-focus lens. It was also equipped with an optical engine tailor-made for laser light sources, which solved the size and energy consumption of traditional TVs or living room theaters. Problems with stability, cost, etc. are very suitable for the family living room environment. At the same time, the unique interactive experience of Baihe Laser TV also overturns the traditional living room mode, making the living room a new entertainment experience integrating cinema, television, games, video calls, online shopping and home education, and member interaction. It has created a laser on the market. TV trend!
Progress in the field of laser display in China

For the laser display industry, Academician Xu Zuyan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering once stated: “The laser display will form hundreds of billions of dollars in four markets: large screens/large screens, home theaters/televisions, micro projectors/mobile phone projections, and computer screens/game consoles. Scale.” While China also regards laser display as a national industry development, the Ministry of Science and Technology’s “12th Five-Year Plan for the Development of New Display Technologies” clearly defines the strategic position of the laser display industry and vigorously develops the next generation represented by laser display and 3D display. Display technology. In the “13th Five-Year Plan” issued by the State Council in 2016, the laser display was listed as the first of a new generation of information technology display projects, continuing to support the laser display industry and accelerating the industrialization of laser display.

Under the vigorous advocacy of national policies, domestic companies represented by the United States and the United States have laid out the field of laser display one after another, and the scale of the industry has rapidly expanded. In laser display technology, as the first SLPL laser fluorescence light source technology of Merlot, the blue laser excitation and laser fluorescent tube technology as the core, the blue fluorescence excitation technology completely solves the possible radiation safety problems of laser display, laser fluorescent tube technology Breakthrough in the brightness of the laser fluorescence technology, the brightness can be more than 100,000 lumens, the successful realization of laser projection display light machine independent development and design, get rid of the dependence on foreign products, and further promote the domestic laser display autonomy process.
In terms of industrialization, as the first laser display R&D and manufacturing platform enterprise in China, Mangle currently has built the most advanced laser display product production line in China, laying a solid foundation for laser display industrialization. Recently, as the first laser display company to land on the “new three boards”, it is a milestone for promoting the industrialization of laser display in China.

to sum up:
There is no doubt that China's laser display technology and industrialization are already at the leading level in the world. Just as Mr. Long Chen, Chairman of the US-based Le Meridien, said that the laser display provides ethnic enterprises with the opportunity to “carry over”, and will be more widely used in the fields of large-screen display, home theater, project projection, and education. And China will also become a leader in the field of laser display.
